Texas Relief

The Bridge Church is partnering with Bethel Baptist Church in Houston, pastored by Jaime Garcia. We were connected with Jaime and his inner city ministry through Josh & Deanna Price (formerly of The Bridge, now living in Houston). He is actively helping rescue people and very soon will be opening the doors of his church as a home base for many relief activities.

Donate:

We are recommending that donations for disaster relief be made through Pastor Garcia’s non-profit called Unique Student Ministry (USM), a training ground for youth in leadership and service.  100% of your donation will go directly toward relief efforts for those who suffered devastation from the effects of Hurricane Harvey.  www.uniquestudent.org/donate

Volunteer:

The Bridge is organizing teams to help in disaster relief efforts. We will be serving Houston’s poor who likely have no insurance and little means to recoup their losses. These efforts will go on for many months, but much help will be needed initially.

More than just the cleaning up of debris, volunteer teams may be involved in the following:

Meal preparation, serving meals, cleaning of emergency shelters, sorting donated relief items (clothes, shoes, food, toiletries, etc.), delivery of relief items, and most importantly, embracing people with the love of Christ.

We are looking tentatively at September 10-16 for our first team.  Dates for subsequent teams will follow. We will secure flights for the teams but each team member will be responsible for the cost of their flight. (Currently running between $100 -$200 per person)
